Abstract

The Theological Seminary of Tui (Diocese of Tui-Vigo) is part of the history of our present as within its stone walls many of the diocesan priests in practice today have been trained. Most part of the data compiled for this analysis belongs to the Official Eclessiastic Bishopric Bulletins of Tui which are located in the Library of San José Seminary (Vigo, Pontevedra). This research was carried out with the intention of divulging, from a panoramic viewpoint, the vertiginous transformation undergone by the young seminarians in Galicia, particularly in the city of Tui. This article aims at taking the reader back to the years 1850 -1875 showing the sociocultural atmosphere of the time through quantitative data, concluding with a study on the origins and habits of those past generations.
