Abstract

Recent investigations indicate that the skills of numerical processing of children at the beginning of Primary Education precede the development of arithmetic in students, in the modes of oral verbal and alphabetical, analogical and written coding in Arabic numerals. The present work aims to study the development of numerical cognition in students of Primary Education. Thus, it presents the results of a sample of 2nd and 3rd grade at this stage, allowing us to show significant differences in performance levels among children when responding to tasks designed to evaluate the numerical processing.
