Analysis of the benefits of the practice of goalball during physical education classes

Abstract

Goalball is a Paralympic sport created specifically for people with visual impairment. It is used as a didactic resource in physical education scope, which also promotes the inclusion of students. This study aimed to carry out a systematic review of the literature related to Goalball in Physical Education. The keywords "Goalball" and "Physical Education" were used to search for documents, searched in the Web of Science, Scopus, SportDiscus and PubMed databases. A total of 7 documents were identified and published up to December 2022. The selected documents were evaluated by experts with the purpose of determining the quality of the manuscripts. In addition, a reliability analysis was carried out, intra-observer (p = .98) and inter-observer (p = .94). The studies analyzed highlight the importance of working on positive attitudes towards disability, for which the practice of adapted sports in educational contexts is very useful. In conclusion, more studies should be developed to analyze the benefits of sports for people with disabilities in physical education, considering the different educational stages.
