Abstract

In this article, the authors write about an experience that took place at "Cardenal Spínola" Teacher Training College. Some resources and material non specific to the area of mathematics were used in this experience for the teaching of Geometry and Arithmetic. Some every day objects such as Alhambra tiles any kind of mosaics, some of M.C. Escher’s works which permitted the development of mutiple activities, were used together with less frequently used mathematical objects, thus attracting pupils’ attention, (Möebius band and fractals). Results may be judged by the reader: pupils got to design high quality mosaics like the one this article includes.
