Abstract

Cacographic inventories are short lists of vocabulary in which each speaker writes down the words with which he has had doubts or with which he has made mistakes when writing. They have proved to be an excellent instrument for the teaching of spelling in obligatory education because they allow one to work with those rules which apply to spelling mistakes which each pupil actually makes. They also connect spelling with written expression in real communication exercises, contextualizing the conceived spelling as learning rules or as part of the grammar.
