Abstract

The amount of questions that children ask drops drastically when they reach the age of six, when they start primary school. This is not just a coincidence; it happens because our current educational system rewards the answer and punishes the question. Schools don ́t promote pupils’ ability to question things, thus having negative effects on their curiosity and their motivation towards learning. It’s necessary to make a deep change in education and to place pupils at the centre of educational processes. The best way to make this change is to listen to their voices, consider and encourage their questions because through these, children express themselves, they participate and they arouse curiosity for learning.
