Author Guidelines

The works sent to Microtextualidades. Short Short Story and Flash Fiction International Journal must be the result of an original scientific investigation, which provides novel and significant conclusions within the specific areas of the journal after having followed a duly justified methodology and an updated bibliography.

The authors will not send a work that has previously been submitted to another evaluation process by another editor, nor will they send the original to another editor until they receive notification of their rejection or after a voluntarily withdraw. It is admissible to publish a work that extends one that previously appeared, provided that the source on which it is based is correctly cited and that the modifications imply a substantial modification of what has already been published.

The personal data of the author will not appear under any circumstances in the article, in the general body nor in the notes. Likewise, any reference that allows identifying the author will be omitted.

The submission of the articles will be made through the journal's online platform according to the instructions on the page. The data of the author will be recorded in the corresponding spaces of the computer application.


The authors must submit the text of their article (in which there will be no identification of the author) in a Word file adapted to the
format of the journal template. The article must contain the original text in Spanish or English (German, Italian, French and Portuguese are also accepted). The text will be accompanied by its title in English, a brief summary, written in Spanish and English, as well as a maximum of six keywords in both languages separated by semicolons.

The authors must provide, in the final version of the already reviewed article, the full professional affiliation of the author, including position, work center, home institution, city and country, along with their corresponding full postal address (in no case, the personal address of the author), email address and their ORCID code.

The order of signature of the authors must be indicated. Under no circumstances will the incorporation of new authors who were not identified and registered in the first submission of the manuscript be accepted.

The works will be subjected to double peer evaluation, external, blind and anonymous, according to the procedure and the criteria made public by the journal.

Acknowledgment of receipt of all manuscripts received through the online platform will be automatically issued.


The works that do not conform to the editorial norms of the journal will be returned to their authors for modification.
The interval between the reception and the acceptance will be less than 45 days and the interval between the acceptance and the publication will not exceed 90 days from the confirmation of receipt of the article. The definitive acceptance date by the journal includes the time dedicated by the authors to the final review of their work or, if necessary, to provide the required documentation.
Microtextualidades. Short Story and Flash Fiction International Journal will notify the authors of the editorial decision, which will state the reasons that have led to the acceptance or rejection of the manuscripts, as well as the opinions issued by the experts.

In the event that the editors or members of the Editorial Board or of the Scientific Board of the journal prepare articles for publication in Microtextualidades. Short Short Story and Flash Fiction International Journal, they will also be evaluated by external evaluators, appointed by one of the Boards of the journal, as a guarantee of impartiality.

General Standards

  1. The author or authors must provide the following information:

  1. In a cover file they must provide in Times New Roman (12) the complete professional affiliation of the author, their position, work center and institution of origin (University, Faculty and / or Department to which it belongs), city and country, with the complete address (never a personal address) and email address. The corresponding ORCID code must be added.

  2. In a different file in Word format (there must be no identification of the author), they must send the original text, in Spanish or English, duly written (German, Italian, French and Portuguese are also accepted). And also, in Spanish and English, the following data must be added: the title of the work in bold Times New Roman (14), with a maximum length of 20 words; a summary between 200 and 250 words, written in Spanish and English, reflecting the object of the research, the methodology used and the conclusions; Six keywords, in Spanish and English, separated by commas.

  3. The authors must strictly adhere to the abbreviated reference system with regard to text and notes and prepare a precise list of bibliographic references, with duly justified bibliographic data.

Length

The articles will have a maximum length of 10,000 words, and the reviews, with critical content rather than expository, of 1000.

Language

The works, preferably, will be done in Spanish or English, although other languages of scientific relevance may also be considered: French, German, Italian, Portuguese.

ORCID code

The ORCID code must be added to the file containing the complete information of the author. If you do not have one, you can get it for free on the ORCID (Connecting Research and Researchers) website. ORCID is an open project that allows you to register to obtain a unique identifier and manage the activity log. The ORCID code is available under an open-source license, and an annual public data file will be published under a CC0 license to be downloaded for free: https://orcid.org/content/initiative?locale_v3=es

Funding sources

The articles, studies and monographs that are sent for publication in the journal must indicate, without fail and clearly, if they exist, the sources of funding received and the identification code, expressly mentioning the public or private entity responsible for such funding. This information can be included in a footnote or in a thank-you heading before the bibliographic references. If it is included in “acknowledgments” (epigraph that, if it exists, should be placed at the end of the article, just before the “bibliography”), the information on the funding received will appear first, before the institutional and personal acknowledgments. At all times, mention of the title and code of the project and the funding source must be explicit.

Editorial Standards and style

1. Article text

- Times New Roman (12), single space, aligned to the left.

- A blank line must be inserted before and after the headings and subheadings.

- Do not leave a blank line between paragraphs.

- Within the text, each new paragraph should start with a 1cm indentation in the left margin.

 

2. Headings

2.1. The headings are to be numbered and in bold, without indentation. The subheadings must be numbered and italicized, also without indentation.

2.2. Titles, headings and subheadings have no endpoint. 

3. Citations

3.1. All bibliographical references will be made within the text, in parentheses, including author or authors, year of publication and page or pages of the citation. If it is not a direct quotation, only the author and year of publication are to be indicated.

3.2. To quote citations, high quotes ("") and, within them, single quotes ('') will be used.

3.3. When an unnecessary passage is deleted in the citation, ellipses framed by square brackets will be used.

3.4 If an external comment is included within a textual citation, it must be framed by square brackets.
3.5. Citations of more than four lines are indented, without quotation marks and written in Times New Roman 11. The point is placed in front of the parenthesis containing the bibliographic reference, not after.

3.6. When it is a brief citation or reference to an idea of an author whose name is not expressly cited in the article, the author's name and the specific page will appear in parentheses. There is no comma [,] between the name and the page number.

3.7. When it is a brief citation or reference to an idea of an author whose name is cited in the text and is an author who only has one work cited, the year of edition is not included. If more than one work by an author is mentioned, the edition date of each one must be included, behind the name. A comma [,] should be inserted only between the year and the page.

 

4.Footnotes

Footnotes will be used with restrictive criteria to provide supplementary and indispensable information.

The notes must follow a consecutive numbering throughout the article. The notice in the text shall be placed behind the punctuation marks, parentheses, etc.

Bibliographic references, in brackets, are inserted in the notes in the same way as in the body of the article. The complete bibliographic data must be included in the list of works cited.

5. Bibliography cited

5.1. At the end of the article, the bibliography cited under the heading "References" will be included. Do not include unlisted works.

5.2. Alphabetical order shall be followed according to the author or editor. The names of the authors and publishers will be provided in full. The name and surname of the authors shall never be capitalized.

  • The works of an author must appear in chronological order, from the oldest to the most recent.

  • When including a work by several authors, only the last name of the first author will appear before the name.

  • When more than one work by the same author is included, they are ordered chronologically; In all cases, the name of the author is stated and is not replaced by a long dash.

  • The subtitle is separated from the title by a colon [:]. Parentheses or other formulas shall not be used.

5.3. The titles of books, journals and newspapers should be italicized; The volume and issue number shall appear in Arabic numbers.

5.4. All lines after the first of each entry must be indented 0.5 cm in the left margin.

5.5. The beginning and end of the pages are indicated by omitting hundreds and thousands not relevant. For example: 235-87.

5.6. Indications such as "op. Cit.", "Art. Cit.", "Loc. Cit.", "Id.", "Ibid.", "Supra", "infra", "etc. must not be used. use "see" or "See", never "cfr.", "go-to", "vid." or "comp.".

5.7. Each entry will be organized in this way:


A. BOOKS

Last Name of the author, First Name of the author. Book title in italics. Name and surname of the editor or translator [if any; indicating in front: Ed./Eds. or Tran./Trans.]. Edition used. Number of volumes [if more than one]. Name of the series or collection [if applicable]. Place of publication: Name of publisher, Date of publication.

 

BOOKS with two or more authors:

Last Name, First Name and First Name Last Name. Title in italics. City: Publisher, year.

BOOKS EDITED by one person:

Last Name, First Name, ed. Title in italics. City: Publisher, Year.

B. ARTICLES:

D. TITLES AND SUBTITLES OF BOOKS.

Regardless of the form adopted in the original, the transcription shall be: Title (initial in uppercase) and subtitle (initial in lowercase)



E. BOOK TITLES WITH VARIOUS VOLUMES.

When each volume has its own title, it will be specified in italics (Last Name First Name. Title, I: Title.) And then the appropriate reference.

If there is no individual title, it is sufficient to refer to the volume (Last Name, First Name. Title. Vol. 2.).


F. PRESS CITATIONS

Last Name of the author, First Name of the author. "Title of the work". Name of the Newspaper [if not known: City, Country] Day Month Year: pages.

 

G. INTERNET PUBLICATION:

Illustrations, images, charts, etc.

Charts, infographics, sheets and figures shall be delivered preferably in digital format, in separate files, attached in the email.

Hyperlinks

The originals can integrate into the body of the text hyperlinks to multiple multimedia resources (image, video, infographics, etc.).

They will be sent separately and as separate files in the email, also numbered sequentially in JPG format with a maximum width of 500 pixels.

 

Publishing reviews

Only reviews about books published in the last three years are accepted. They shall have a maximum length of 1,000 words.

The technical information of the book that is reviewed shall include the complete data: name and last name of the author of the book, city, publisher and year of publication and number of pages.

The author of the review shall be identified by name and last name and will include his email address.

Reviews can be submitted until November 30.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • All the people who sign this work have participated in its planning, writing, execution and interpretation of the results. They have critically reviewed the work, approved its final version and agree with its publication.
  • No signature responsible for the work has been omitted and the criteria of scientific authorship are satisfied.
  • This work is original and unpublished.
  • It has not been sent or will be sent to another journal for publication unless it is rejected.
  • None of the data presented has been plagiarized, invented, manipulated or distorted.
  • The original data are clearly distinguished from those already published.
    The original sources on which the information contained in the manuscript is based are identified and cited.
  • The origin of the previously published figures, charts, data, photographs, etc., is properly and completely cited, and the necessary permissions for reproduction on any medium are provided.
  • The consent of those who have contributed unpublished data, which have been obtained through verbal or written communication, has been obtained and their authorship is identified in an appropriate and explicit manner.
  • Parts of this manuscript have been published previously (Complete the relevant information in the comments section and provide these texts).
  • All those who sign it have avoided making mistakes in their approach, in the presentation of the results and in their interpretation.
  • If they discover an error in the article, before or after its publication, they will alert the Directorate of the journal.
  • The results of this study have been interpreted objectively. Any result that is contrary to the point of view of those who sign it is exposed and discussed in the article.
  • All sources of funding granted for this study are recognized, concisely indicating the funding agency and the identification code.
  • The acknowledgments mention the people who, having collaborated in the elaboration of the work, are not listed in the authorship section nor are they responsible for the preparation of the manuscript.
  • The publication of this work implies that authors shall retain their copyright and ensure that Microtextualidades has the right to first publication of their work, which shall simultaneously be subject to the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) whereby the user is free to share, copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format; and to remix, transform, and build upon that material under the following terms: Proper credit (journal, author, url /doi) must be given and it is not used for commercial purposes.

Un número entero de la revista (ordinario o extraordinario) puede estar dedicado con exclusividad a un tema monográfico, aprobado por el Consejo Editorial. Pueden contar con un equipo editor propio, que encarga los artículos a diversos especialistas y ayuda al equipo editorial en las tareas de evaluación y edición.

Artículos

Esta sección acoge artículos sobre el microrrelato y sobre otras formas breves de carácter literario, sean o no narrativas: fábulas, leyendas y mitos, haikus y poemas en prosa, bestiarios, microteatro, etc. Pueden revestir diversos enfoques: teórico, crítica literaria, literatura comparada, semiótico, teoría de los géneros literarios, etc.

Asimismo, permanece abierta a los estudios, que se realizan sobre la minificción en los diversos ámbitos de la creación artística no literaria, en particular, del cine, de la fotografía y de la comunicación audiovisual, publicitaria, periodística en cualquiera de sus soportes (radio, TV, etc.), incluidos los espacios digitales.

Los trabajos de investigación pueden revestir diversos enfoques: comunicativo, epistemológico, filosófico, hermenéutico, estético, editorial, didáctico-pedagógico, etc.
