Abstract

Situating flashfiction as a genre in the perspective of lifewriting, this article takes Camille de Toledo’s Vies pøtentielles as a good example to reflect upon the benefits that are given by the use of very brief narratives. Flash-fictions evoke potential lives; by multiplying the number of imaginary scripts, they reveal the status of the individual today, his ontological flaw and his longing to match with one unique story.
