Abstract

Among the thematic and pragmatic features of microfiction, along with intertextuality, linguistic play, fantasy or parody, metafiction, almost always related to irony and humor, frequently appears as a narrative strategy. The microtale is a genre that reflects on itself, on the literature in general and the fictionality of the world. It addresses issues such as generic classifications, creation and reception processes, and language limitations. It tends to show its techniques and mechanisms of composition through the narration itself and shows the reader the elements that are part of the creative process. Besides, it questions traditional codes and the opposition between reality and fiction. Metanarrative strategy seeks a reader who is able to contribute to the story, who shares the narrator's reflections and understands the meaningful plurality of the text.
