Hybridity and fractality are two postmodern characteristics present in some works by Alberto Chimal. They appear largely in his mini-fiction books, but also occasionally in his longer narrative works. Chimal's non-minifictional hybrid texts sometimes resort to other literary genres to take them as a basis (discursive, thematic), however, in the case of his minifictions the integration and fusion of various extraliterary discursive genres is more frequent, which gives them of a “literary function”. As for fractality, this allows organizing sets of texts, which arise from variations of a concept, structure, diegesis or theme, to create a global sense of reading from the sum of meanings of each of the elements of the series.
