Abstract
The construction of characters in fictional texts has been changing along the years, especially if we consider the concept of “people” as it appears in the work by E. M. Foster (1923). By focusing on micronarratives, the theoretical concepts of short story also deserve attention in the sense of the evolution of the genre, and the reflection of the society that are usually presented in these types of texts. This paper deals with Mário-Henrique Leiria’s micronarratives, as well as the construction of characters in his texts. We base our arguments on the theory of short story by Vladimir Propp, and Jauss’ review of the construction of characters. Leiria’s own definition of textual composition will be explored.
