A Literary Cartography: The Anthology of Microfiction En las Tierras de David (Ana María Mopty comp.)

Abstract

This article analyzes the anthology En las Tierras de David (2022), compiled by Ana María Mopty and published by the Tucumán press La aguja de Buffon, as a literary cartography that organizes and redefines microfiction production in Northwestern Argentina. The collection assembles forty-one authors and a plural corpus that, from a regional vantage, situates itself within the genre while engaging broader discursive traditions. The study examines how the anthology functions as a microsystem within the literary polysystem by rendering visible emerging authors alongside established ones and by exploring microfiction’s stylistic and thematic diversity. It emphasizes the volume’s territorial and symbolic dimensions, showing how selection and arrangement construct a region conceived not as periphery but as an alternative cultural center. The conclusion anticipates that this anthology contributes to consolidating microfiction as a situated yet universal practice and to reinforcing conceptual links among canon, genre, and region within Argentine literature more broadly.
