This article provides a brief overview of a genre which is increasingly gaining importance in the last years. It can be named as biographies or illustrated micro-narratives of outstanding women. In the view of the above, a classroom proposal about women is described. This proposal has taken into account the results obtained in a pre-questionnaire that confirmed the lack of reading and writing habits of a group of future teachers in English as well as their failure to know adequately the role of women in fields such as Science, Arts, Literature or Politics. Apart from describing the project developed in the Foreign Language Area, the article proposes future research areas that may be addressed. Furthermore, it reflects upon the importance of including Children and Youth Literature into the classroom with social and cultural purposes that allow the future teachers to be aware of the role of women in different fields.
