This research aims for stating questions on photography and war in XXI century, specifically about the use of photography and digital technology in Abu Ghraib prison (Iraq) by torturers soldiers. Starting from these pictures, published first on Internet and then by conventional media, their analysis takes to question their image statute both from the point of view of photojournalism and visual and technological history, to state the contemporary need of undertaking the symptoms that doubts and simulations in real image have left as XX century’s legacy.
