The current situation of the journalistic profession, which involves accelerated rhythms and almost mechanical production routines, in which immediacy and scoops seem to prevail over informative rigor, has consolidated multitasking, multimedia convergence and content distribution on different platforms and supports. In terms of working conditions, there is a tendency towards job insecurity, since the same journalist now works in a convergent scenario where they must produce more and faster, apart from the fact that more and more professional skills derived from new techniques are required. Entrepreneurship, also linked to new professional profiles, has become a popular job option, which also implies training in business management and leadership. All of this is surrounded in a communicative context threatened by disinformation and the incorporation of machines, automation processes and artificial intelligence that do not make much sense without human intervention. This seems to be the first frame of the current X-ray of journalism, which in this special issue is photographed from different perspectives that offer an overall vision.
