Persistent contemporaneity of the feet of Xaquín Marín. A reflection from graphic humour on oppression

The feet of Xaquín Marín –cartoons in which always appears a great foot crushing people– are one of the most powerful and recurring author series. The feet are an universal and timeless symbol of oppression with which Marin criticizes both the violence of oppressors and the docility of oppressed, who renounce rebellion in exchange for the security and illusion of welfare that their oppressor give to them. This study analyzes the 200 feet collected by the author in the book ‘Cen+cen pés’ (Embora, 2007).
