About the Journal

Doxa Comunicación is an international, open-access scientific journal, indexed in leading rankings, and affiliated with CEU San Pablo University. Specializing in various areas of communication, it was established in 2003 and is published biannually in both Spanish and English, in digital and print formats. Mision

The mission of Doxa Comunicación is to serve as an effective and distinguished channel for theoretical, conceptual, and cognitive exchange among scholars and professionals in the field of Communication and its intersection with the Social Sciences. The journal aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue, foster academic rigor, independence, and critical reflection on key communication themes. Additionally, its bilingual publication in Spanish and English underscores its strong international focus, establishing the journal as a reference point for the dissemination and analysis of significant research in the field of communication.

Objectives 

The primary objective of Doxa Comunicación is to provide the scientific community with the results of original, relevant, and high-quality research that contributes new knowledge in the field of Communication, in connection with various areas of the Social Sciences.

Other objectives include:

  • Facilitating academic and theoretical exchange: We promote an interdisciplinary dialogue space among scholars of Social Sciences and Communication.
  • Promoting Open Access: We encourage open access to all content and its distribution through open platforms and institutional repositories.
  • Ensuring academic and editorial excellence: We apply rigorous editorial criteria and ensure external review of articles through a double-blind system to maintain high-quality standards. We define an editorial policy that reflects the journal's principles, the scope of topics covered, and the methodology for article selection and publication. We foster transparency in the editorial process and decision-making.
  • Encouraging international research: We have an international vocation to be a global reference in the field of communication, promoting universal and free access to published content. Doxa is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and DOAJ, among others.
  • Ensuring accessibility, visibility, and inclusion: We publish in accessible digital formats and ensure that content is available in international repositories and databases.
  • Promoting originality and ethics in research: We require originality in articles, conduct plagiarism checks, and allow for correction and retraction through platforms like Crossmark.

Scope

Doxa Comunicación aims to promote intellectual relationships, innovation, the transmission of ideas, and the exchange of knowledge among the international scientific community. All its research articles are published bilingually, in both Spanish and English.

Themes

Doxa Comunicación accepts scientific articles and essays related to the Social Sciences, specifically those focused on the study of collective communication: journalism, public opinion, information law, advertising, and audiovisual and digital communication. It covers a wide range of topics such as communication theory and practice, social networks, stereotypes, media, political communication, social communication, communication in education, new technologies and digital communication, scientific communication, organizational communication, ethics, and responsibility in communication.

Target audience

Doxa Comunicación is aimed at the international scientific community and all readers interested in knowing the latest advances in the field of Social Communication.

Open Access

Doxa Comunicación is a free and open access scientific journal, in accordance with the spirit of the BOAI Recommendations. Doxa Comunicación will not charge any fee for postulating, processing, publishing or reading articles in the journal. Pre and post-print contents are universally accessible and free of charge.it. Its contents are accessible from the moment of publication and no prior registration is required to access them. Doxa Comunicación does not charge APC'S (Article Processing Charges).

Doxa Comunicación expresses its commitment to Open Science policies and mandates, adhering to the FAIR principles to make research data easy to find, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.

With this commitment, it promotes transparency, open access, interoperability, and the reuse of research data resulting from scientific production.

Publication frequency

Doxa Comunicación is a bi-annual journal. The first period extends from January-June, and the second from July-December. All issues will be published in January and July of each year. 

Early access and Multi-format publishing

Once the articles have been positively evaluated by the anonymous "double-blind" system, they are published in the "Early access" version  to facilitate their access and dissemination. Articles, essays and researchs with positive evaluations by the anonymous "double-blind" system will be published in "Early access" mode , in PDF format. "Early access" articles will incorporate a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) code but no pagination; this will be incorporated in the final publication of the article, PDF, ePub, and HTML formats.

Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles in this journal without seeking prior permission from the editor or the author provided that the author and first publication in this journal are acknowledged. Bilingual edition

The journal is published in a Spanish/English bilingual edition as of November 2016.

Anonymous “double-blind peer review” system

This manuscript evaluation process consists of two phases: an internal review carried out by the team of scientific editors upon receipt of each article; and an external review, carried out by external reviewers who are experts in the subject of the manuscript and of recognised prestige and independence.

The process is initiated once the internal review has been positively concluded; the texts are reviewed by the double-blind peer review system, which preserves the anonymity of both authors and reviewers throughout the process.

History of our journal

Doxa Comunicación was founded in 2003 by the Department of Journalism of the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences of Universidad CEU San Pablo. Since then and up to now, is published on a biannual basis.
