La Prensa británica en los comienzos de la Guerra de la Independencia. Henry Crabb Robinson y la corresponsalía de The Times en España (1808-1809)
Abstract
El levantamiento del dos de mayo y la formación de las distintas juntas tuvieron un amplio eco en los periódicos ingleses. Las cabeceras mantuvieron durante casi un año una dura pugna tanto en sus editoriales como en la obtención de noticias. El presente trabajo analiza la repercusión de las informaciones en la política inglesa, las distintas fuentes de información de los diarios, así como un estudio de los distintos agentes que estuvieron en España. Entre ellos se presta una especial atención a Henry Crabb Robinson, corresponsal de The Times en La Coruña, y único periodista profesional que estuvo en la “piel de toro” durante la Guerra de la Independencia y que dejó un diario inédito sobre sus avatares en nuestro país.
