La biblia de Ávila
Abstract
La Biblia de Ávila (Biblioteca Nacional, Vit. 15-1) es un manuscrito realizado en la escuela umbro romana entre 1160-1170 y completado en su texto y decoración a finales del siglo XII, coincidiendo con su llegada a la Catedral de Ávila. La tesis parte de una valoración de la Biblia entre los manuscritos medievales para centrarse después en un análisis iconográfico de las iniciales y escenas de la Biblia de Ávila. La investigación presenta un estudio de los códices adscritos al mismo taller del manuscrito abulense, consultados en Roma, Milán, Trento y Turín. El análisis se completa con la consulta de los documentos de la Catedral de Ávila y con el estudio de ciclos de pintura mural romanos y castellanos que sirvieron de modelo a los manuscritos roma´nicos en el marco de la reforma de Gregorio VII.
