This research conducts a formal and content analysis of ¡HOLA! magazine on the occasion of its 80th anniversary. It aims to offer a study on women’s press in Spain and the circumstances surrounding the birth of the weekly publication. It describes the magazine’s evolution into a unique global publishing phenomenon. The ¡HOLA! case is relevant due to its ability to adapt to changing historical contexts and business models. Moreover, it has defined a distinctly Spanish form of journalism—celebrity and society magazines—which, despite its popularity and audience success, has been little studied. The study uses methods such as participant observation, in-depth interviews, unpublished materials, and questionnaires. Additionally, it analyzes the content of ¡HOLA!’s 4,160 covers over 80 years. The goal is to determine the relevance of ¡HOLA! as a mass media outlet in Spain and its adaptability throughout its long trajectory.
