Author Biography

  • María Pilar García Pinacho, University CEU San Pablo, Spain

A professor at San Pablo CEU University, her research focuses on the Spanish press of the second half of the 19th century, primarily in three related areas: Galdós and his relationship with journalism; the Spanish press’s relationship with political, economic, and cultural powers; and the influence of the Spanish press on the emergence of the liberal city (Madrid) in Spain. She collaborates on and develops multidisciplinary projects that analyze how the press reflected the emergence of the liberal city of Madrid, private investment in the city, and how the economic liberalism that transformed the urban landscape also influenced the shift from an ideological press to a commercial one in the final years of the 19th century.
